Hi footysystems footysystems . Not been joined very long and just trying to get to grips with the forum. Just wondered if you had ever tried Paul Steels Power ratings introduced in his book around 2012. I used to have them up to date but lagged behind for a while and they ended up useless. Probably will restore these when the new season starts in August. As far as your ratings software goes, is it downloadable anywhere, or do you just define ratings when convenient. I'm always interested in this sort of thing, used to be a reviewer for a well known sports site a little while back.

footysystems footysystems sorry to ressurect an old thread but I have been within the horse part of the forum as you have seen and been quite for a few days while i put everything together (currenty checking data accuracy) and decided to have a break and look through the football threada and yours have a wealth of knowedge. So kich so im thinking of dusting off my old football database and tweeking a rating system i used to use. One thing that caught my eye is you use 4 different ratings from last 10..last 6.. last 8 home and 4 homes (i think as i am typing this from phone and doing from memory) but wondered if you had any reason behind those date spans. Reason I ask is the mixing of 2 is genious. Im thinking of altering mine for both a season outlook and current outlook but just wanted to hear your thoughts on it :)
 
runnerjp runnerjp the data is taken from a well known website and given weight scores. TBH i have moved on from this i could not get enough consistency, and prices were cramped.

The football betting market pre game is finished IMO they the bookies have a strangle hold on the prices and it really hard to make it pay or even glean a little profit, i would love to know of any who do make anything from pre kick off markets ??

I focus all my football betting on InPlay matches now and developed Inplay ratings :)
 
TBH I am going to apply some of the football methods to my horse ratings I am developing. I love the idea of rating a season + last 4 and compiling them as one!

I know about your Inplay stuff as signed up to your new trail :D
