Gregorian (Don 3-15)beat a few very good in form horses last time out and now with the ground in his favour he looks to have a good chance. The Leger is going to take some stamina to get home, Leading Light is assured to get the trip and Libertarian also, but the ground and his poor run in the Irish derby puts him in doubt.
Good Punting

Eschewing all other races today I checked out the St Leger, although feel that the ground may cause problems with the form. There is an old adage that says, 'winter rides in on the tail of the last horse home in the St Leger'.

Consistency rating 1.
Foundry - up 2lbs, driven same pace no impression for 2nd 12f GF. Not £class, not confirmed. Has going in favour today.
Galileo Rock -same weight, kept on well for 2nd 12f GF. Not £class. Confirmed by RPR/Formcast.
Leading Light - drppoed 4lbs, led pressed kept on won 16f GF, Not £class, not confirmed

Consistency rating 2.
Great Hall - dropped 7 lbs, held on well won 14f GF. Not £class, not confirmed.
Talent - dropped 3lbs, waited with no extra last of seven 12 lengths behind 12f GF. Class £Top, confirmed by RPR/Formcast. No filly has won this race in the past 20 years.

Lost 3 points (£30) yesterday, debit 9 (£90), bank 194 points.

Galileo Rock 4 points (£40) is the selection, leaving the decision about the going to the trainer. (My personal order of merit is Leading Light, Galileo Rock, Foundry)

Day off tomorrow as there are no Formcast ratings on Sundays.

Chest 2:55 1 Cameron Highland 2 Tac De Boistron 3 Star Lahib
Don 3:15 1 Gregorian 2 Aljamaaheer 3 Caspar Netscher
Don 3:50 1 Galileo Rock 2 Cap O'Rushes 3 Leading Light
Don4:25 1 Voodoo Prince 2 Mister Impatience 3 Guising
Don 6:05 1 Mont Ras 2 Sandagiyr 3 Ascription

The 2:55 and 4:25 are both priced up tightly nothing there for me with the horses I would be interested in, Cameron Highland and Voodoo Prince.
This leaves the other three and they are giving me major problems.
In the 3:15 the one that interests me is Caspar Netscher the worry for me with him is both of his best performances have been in France, so will he cope with the likely different pace set in this class here? His last run wasn't that good but will the softer ground help him today, and did he bounce after lay off ? I usually only look for the bounce after quick(ish) return after a top class performance but how unfit race wise was he after his stud duties after all he had been using very different muscles?
3:50 Cap O'Rushes does catch my eye as he is one of the two with form in higher class. Reading the comments he only just scrabbled home from Excess Knowledge but I do think the slow pace of that race would have favoured EK. My main worry is have they soured the horse with the hard races on firm going? Galileo Rock the course and going both worry me.
6:05 The going look wrong for Mont Ras and in all honesty I was expecting him to be pulled out leaving Sandagiyr The firm going last time out looked as if it didn't suit. As he does have some good/reasonable form on flat courses I'm hoping he doesn't need the undulations to show his best. Of these three I'm going with a small win loaded place Sandagiyr.

Be Lucky

Hi Mtoto

I can see where you are coming from with regards Sandagiyr but I have a suspicion that he is in the race to compress the handicap weight for their other runner PIED A TERRE whose last run was over the track, has form on the going in Australia and has what looks like it will be a contested pace and was noted running on LTO. Was pushed up in weight LTO, carried 9-12. If Sandagiyr has been put in the race to compress the handicap then Pied a Terre is only up 4lbs in class and down 10lbs in weight.

Sandagiyr has 24 lbs Dead weight in the saddle
Pied A Terre has 11lbs

Godolphin has won the last two runnings of this race

Good Luck

Mtoto, my first three in order for the 3.50 Doncaster 1 Galileo Rock big improver last time out 2 Secret Number folowing in the footsteps of Encke 3 Excess Knowledge looks the weakest of the 3 but you can never under estimate a Gosden horse in this race.

I have MisterMusic on my list, he is racing tomorrow in a conditions race.

He has won a conditions race before...

Boom and Bust looks a big danger to Mister Music, but 8-1 seems a decent
Price, especially with Ascription winning so well yesterday!

Formtheory, you may get a response if you was to give a time and course and a reason why you think MM has a chance of winning.

Hi Arkle,

I have stated it is a horse I have listed, He put in a good performance last time out behind Graphic making him a form horse.

Bath 4:20.

Hi Arkle,
I have listed horses based upon key factors that I feel are important to the V.D.W method.

First one goes in at 9.6 on Betfair!
